National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA is a U.S based government agency.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower established the agency on 1st October 1958. The agency was established under the National Aeronautics and Space Act.

The work of NASA is divided into four different types which are as follows:-

  • Science – Deals with programs that are designed to understand the Earth, the solar system and the universe.
  • Space Technology – Works for developing space science and exploration technologies

For years, NASA has been offering and initiating several grants and fellowship programs and projects.

One of those is the NASA space grant project. Know more about the project below:-

  • In 1989, the National Space Grant College and Fellowship project was initiated by NASA.
  • The space grant is a national network of colleges and institutions that work to expand the opportunities for Americans to participate and understand several space and aeronautics projects in NASA.
  • The grant is a national network. It covers more than 850 affiliates from several colleges, universities, industries, museums, science centres, state and local agencies.
  • The fellowships and scholarships are for students pursuing careers in mathematics, science, technology, engineering or STEM.
  • The project goal is to contribute to the science enterprises of the nation.
  • It has several objectives which include:
